"Real Madrid" is considering replacing Daniel Carvajal with second team right-back David Ximenez Corredor next season.
Idman.Biz reports this with reference to "Marca".
Despite the "Real Madrid" captain's reconciliation with head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, the defender's future at "Los Blancos" remains uncertain. The 34-year-old's contract expires in the summer and there is no guarantee that he will be offered an extension.
According to the Madrid club's plan, Trent Alexander-Arnold will become the main right-back, and Ximenez will permanently move to the main team. Ximenez's current contract with "Real Madrid" runs until 2027, and the club plans to start negotiations with him in the coming months regarding a new contract.
It was previously reported that Carvajal was dissatisfied with his playing time and that Arbeloa had almost no contact with the captain.
The 34-year-old defender has been playing for "Real Madrid" since 2013. During this time, he has played 436 matches in all tournaments, scored 14 goals and provided 65 assists. This season, he has not scored in 10 matches for "Real Madrid".
