Raymond Domenech, the former head coach of the French national team and silver medalist of the 2006 World Cup in Germany, spoke about the matches between the Azerbaijani and French teams as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifying stage.
Idman.biz reports that the famous expert, in an exclusive statement to AZERTAC, assessed the chances of both teams: "I don't have much to say about Azerbaijani football. I know that most of the national team players play for "Qarabağ." The national team has not been able to win in recent matches. The last match against France ended with our victory."
The 73-year-old expert, recalling that the Azerbaijani national team is led by experienced Portuguese head coach Fernando Santos, added: "Santos is a titled head coach. However, the quality of the players is also important here, before the coach."
It should be noted that Raymond Domenech worked with the French national team from 2004-2010. He participated in the World Championships held in 2006 and 2010 with the "roosters."
The Azerbaijani national team will play its first match against France away on October 10, and at home on November 16.
