Former Real Madrid forward Raul Gonzalez has stated that Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal will not be the key figure for the Spanish national team at the 2026 World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that R. Gonzalez made this statement in an interview with AS.
Raul believes that despite the young footballer's talent, he is not yet at a level to carry the team's burden alone.
According to him, Yamal will become an important player for the national team in the future, but currently, the main role belongs to more experienced players.
Raul noted that the young striker should not always be forced to help the team.
The former star footballer has already proven that Yamal has great potential both in his club and in the national team.
Raul recalled that he first watched Yamal live at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in a friendly match against Brazil and that he performed at a different level. However, the former striker said that Yamal is still going through an adaptation process. According to Raul, there are aspects that the young footballer needs to work on.
