Rashad Eyyubov: If we lost, it means we played badly

The Azerbaijan national team, consisting of U-21 football players, lost to Portugal 0:4 in Baku in the Euro-2027 qualifying match. Sport24.az reports that the head coach of our national team, Rashad Eyyubov, answered questions at the briefing held after the match:

- In the first half, the focus on the game was at a high level. Unfortunately, we lost it in the second half. The team relaxed a bit. Our biggest problem is standard situations. We conceded 3 goals from such episodes. I thank the players for the first half. We didn't play well in the second half.

- Do you think our national team played better in the away game against Portugal or at home?

- If we lost, it means we played badly.

- The opponent scored 5 goals in the first game, and today they scored 4 times. Is this progress?

- There is no negative progress.

- The score was not opened in the first half. In the second half, the opponent started scoring goals. What do you attribute this to?

- First of all, it is related to intensity. It is a bit difficult to adapt to this pace. That's why our strength was enough for the first half. The opponent was superior to us in terms of intensity.

- Did you expect more from the team?

- We tried to get the players into optimal physical condition. But it wasn't enough.

- Did the weather conditions affect the game?

- The conditions were the same for both teams.

- Were you satisfied with the team in terms of attack?

- If you don't concede a goal, the game ends with a score of 0:0 and you earn 1 point.
