Former president of the Professional Football League (PFL) Ramin Musayev revealed the reason for parting ways with head coach Gurban Gurbanov when he worked at Neftchi.
According to him, G. Gurbanov's departure was not related to the club's results, but to the reduction of the budget.
"Gurban Gurbanov left not because of the salary he received, but because the necessary amount of money would not be allocated for the transfer of football players. But later I stood behind him and became the initiator of his move to "Garabagh". I don't regret it either," he said in a statement to sportnet.az.
Musayev also emphasized that after Gurbanov, Vlastimil Petrjela was brought to the head coach position of "Neftchi" for a lower amount: "Petrjela needed to work in some team after the Russian "Zenit". He wanted to work in "Neftchi" for advertising. It turned out that he left many games in Russia. Later, in addition to gambling talks, I heard other things."
It should be noted that Gurban Gurbanov worked at Neftchi from June 8, 2006 to August 28, 2007. During his tenure, the "white-blacks" won the silver medal of the Azerbaijan championship and lost to Austria's "Ried" in the first qualifying round of the European League as a result of two games - 2:1, 1:3.
