Ramin Musayev, the former president of the Professional Football League (PFL) and former vice-president of "Neftçi", gave an interview to Sport24.az.
- Do you follow the Azerbaijan championship?
- I followed it before January. Frankly, I haven't watched the games of the round after the winter break.
- How do you assess the level of the Premier League?
- The level of the Premier League has increased. This must be admitted. The number of teams has increased, and regional clubs have returned to the elite.
- We would like to know your opinion about the current situation of "Neftçi"...
- Before the championship started, I said that "Neftçi" needs a mother to put in front of them and cry. After the arrival of the new head coach Yuri Vernidub, there is no big difference. If there is an unsuccessful result at the end of the season, the Ukrainian specialist will say that I did not gather the team, give me time. This situation has been going on in "Neftçi" for years. We give foreign coaches years of time, but not to locals. They don't want to work with a local coach so that they can face each other when there is a failure.
- What results do you expect from the Azerbaijan national team this year?
- I have no expectations from our national team. With which football player should we expect success? We have one goalkeeper, who will replace him if he gets injured? We have one Bahlul in defense, who will replace him if he gets injured? The list can be increased. My dissatisfaction is not with the head coaches. No team in our championship thinks about the national team. Because the sponsor and the club management demand results from the coaches. The abolition of the legionnaire limit directly affects the national team. Anyway, no one values the players of the national team. Have you ever heard that a club leader demanded from the head coach to play the national team's football player.
- What do you think about "Qarabağ"'s historic result in the Champions League?
- "Qarabağ" continues to make history. I congratulate them. Frankly, I did not expect this result from the Agdam club at the beginning of the season. Again, the team, led by head coach Gurban Gurbanov, managed to surprise us.
