"We played against a very strong opponent. Everyone knew that." Sport24.az reports that these words were said by Azerbaijani national team footballer Rahman Dashdemirov.
The wing-back spoke about the match they lost 1:3 to France in the qualifying round of the WC-2026:
"I think we fought well as a team. We played confidently. We also scored a goal. I didn't expect to give an assist. It will be memorable for me."
Dashdemirov said that the goalkeeper's mistake in the third goal did not affect the team's motivation: "I wouldn't call it a mistake. Mistakes are inevitable in such matches. It can happen to me and other teammates as well. Such situations are inevitable in matches against big teams."
