Rafael Benitez is the main candidate for the head coach position of Panathinaikos. The Greek portal "Sport24" reports about it, according to Sport24.az.
According to the source, the Spaniard is one step away from being appointed to the Athens club. He is reportedly being offered a record salary in the Greek league.
The last place of work for the 65-year-old specialist was Celta, which he left in March last year. Benitez previously coached Valencia, Liverpool, Inter, Chelsea, Napoli, Real, Dalian Yifang and Everton. He has won 12 titles in his coaching career.
It should be noted that Panathinaikos dismissed head coach Rui Vitoria in mid-September. The "Greens" are in 7th place in the Super League table with 8 points from 5 matches.
