Juventus and French national team midfielder Adrien Rabiot shared his impressions of the game after the 3-0 victory over Azerbaijan in the 2026 World Cup qualifying round in Paris.
According to Idman.Biz, the football player admitted that the game was difficult due to Azerbaijan's tight defense.
"It's always difficult against teams playing in a 5-4-1 formation. We were a bit monotonous, forcing them to run a lot. It's important to be patient in such games. We knew we would find an opportunity to score. We solved the issue - we have three points. The second goal was very important, it gave the team confidence. I am happy that we won. If we beat Iceland, we will practically secure our place in the World Cup," Rabiot said.
In addition to Rabiot, Kilian Mbappe and Florian Thauvin also distinguished themselves in the French national team. This goal was Mbappe's 53rd for the national team. He is currently 4 goals behind Olivier Giroud's record.
It should be reminded that the Azerbaijani national team will face Ukraine away on October 13 as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round.
