"It is a great honor to wear the national team jersey." These words were said to Sport24.az by Qismat Aliyev, a football player of the Azerbaijani national team playing for the "Zira" club.
The 29-year-old flank defender shared his thoughts on the first matches they will play in the qualifying round of DÇ-2026:
"Two important games are ahead. First, we will face Iceland. This team has developed a lot in recent years. They have players playing in good clubs. Our other opponent, Ukraine, is a participant in the last European Championship. We will fight well in both matches and try to make our people happy."
It should be noted that the national team will face Iceland in Reykjavik on September 5 and Ukraine in Baku on September 9.
