The "Astana Cup" international tournament dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abay Kunanbayuly among young football players born in 2014 is being organized in the capital of Kazakhstan on December 6-8.
Idman.Biz, referring to AZERTAC, reports that about 200 children from 7 countries will participate in the competitions. Azerbaijan is represented at the tournament by the youth team of the "Qarabağ" football club of Baku.
Shohrat Yusifov, the head coach of "Qarabağ"'s U12 team, told journalists that it is planned to hold six games in the tournament, and the main goal is to increase the international experience of young football players: "Whether it's a victory or a defeat, it doesn't matter. At this age stage, our main goal is the technical and tactical development of children. In the first years when they stepped into football, they should master the basic technique, game thinking, and this is our priority".
According to the head coach, the goal is to show a worthy result for "Qarabağ" in the tournament: "If we only focus on the result, we will deprive the children of the opportunity to develop through the game. The main thing is that they gain experience and move forward. Every game is a separate stage of development for them. Considering the level of our team, our chances of being among the medalists are high. Currently, our meeting was with the "Kyzylzhar" team of Kazakhstan, and the score was 2:0 in our favor. Our next game will be against the Saran team of Kazakhstan".
Along with Azerbaijani football players, young athletes from Russia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have come to Astana. Kazakhstan is represented by 10 teams in this tournament.
The event is organized with the support of the Astana City Akimat and is aimed at the development of football among children, strengthening international sports cooperation and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
