"Qarabag" has included 2 members of the club's academy in the application for participation in the II qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League (CL) against Ireland's "Shelbourne".
Idman.biz reports with reference to Teleqraf that 16-year-old defender Amin Rzayev and 18-year-old midfielder Hikmat Jabrayilzade, who participated in the training camp in Austria at the request of head coach Gurban Gurbanov, are included in the 24-man list.
In return, 2 more players who participated in the same training camp - defender Habib Gadimov and midfielder Mehdi Mutallimli - are not included in the application.
Nail Kerimov, the manager of the "Qarabag" academy, commented on the matter to Teleqraf: "Currently, these two football players have been given a chance. They showed themselves on the good side during the training camp. But this does not mean that others will not have such a chance. It is possible that Mehdi Mutallimli and Habib Gadimov will also be included in the application in the future."
It should be noted that Amin Rzayev set a record in the XXXIII round of the 2024/2025 season of the Azerbaijan Premier League in the game against "Sumgayit". He became the youngest football player to debut in the Premier League at the age of 15 years and 204 days.
The first match between "Qarabag" and "Shelbourne" will take place on July 23 in Ireland at 22:45 Baku time. The return match, which will be held on July 30 at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium, will start at 20:00.
