For the fourth time in its history, "Qarabag" club has earned the right to play in the play-off stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Idman.biz reports that the Azerbaijani champion gained this chance by defeating "Shkendija" in the III qualifying round.
The Aghdam club had previously tested its strength in the tournament's play-offs in the 2017/2018, 2022/2023 and 2024/2025 seasons. "Qarabag" came out on top in its first attempt, performing in the group stage for the first time. The team led by Gurban Gurbanov surpassed "Copenhagen" (Denmark) thanks to an away goal - 1:2. 1:0.
But our team's next two attempts were unsuccessful. Three years ago, the Czech "Viktoria Plzen" (0:0, 2:1), and last season, the Croatian champion "Dinamo" blocked "Qarabag"'s way.
According to the tournament regulations, the Champions League anthem is played during matches starting from the play-off stage. Thanks to "Qarabag", our fans will be able to hear the anthem of the continent's most prestigious tournament in Baku for the 4th time.
It should be noted that the opponent of the Aghdam club in the play-off stage will be the winner of the pair "Ludogorets" (Bulgaria) - "Ferencvaros" (Hungary).
