French champion "Paris Saint-Germain" has demanded the release of sports journalist Christophe Gleizes, who is imprisoned in Algeria.
Idman.Biz reports that the Algerian Court of Appeal had previously upheld the media worker's seven-year prison sentence on charges of "praising terrorism".
PSG's press service said in a statement on the X social media platform: "PSG joins the call of the LFP and all stakeholders in French professional football for the release of sports journalist Christophe Gleizes. We offer him our full support."
The French Professional Football League (LFP) had previously made a similar call. The league's statement specifically noted that "football must become, more than ever, a space for solidarity, freedom and humanity".
