Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad, the former Minister of Sports of the country, evaluating the current situation of the Saudi Arabian Premier League (SPL), expressed his dissatisfaction with the highly paid legionnaires in the league.
Idman.Biz reports that the former minister, speaking to Al-Arabiya channel, had a positive opinion about Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
"Ronaldo is worth every penny he earns for the global attention he brings to the league and the country. He is the only legionnaire who fully deserves his salary," said the former minister.
The prince added that many other players are paid far more than they deserve.
It should be noted that Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al-Nassr, earns approximately $4 million (6.8 million AZN) per week. The total value of the contract is more than $420 million (approximately 717 million AZN).
Currently, European stars such as Karim Benzema, Joao Felix, and Sadio Mane are playing in the SPL.
