If "Qarabag" eliminates North Macedonian club "Shkendija" in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, they will face the winner of the "Ludogorets" (Bulgaria) - "Ferencvaros" (Hungary) pair in the play-off round.
"Report" informs that if the Aghdam club loses to "Shkendija", they will again face the loser of the mentioned pair in the play-off round of the UEFA Europa League.
The team led by Gurban Gurbanov has crossed paths with the aforementioned opponents before and has only lost to the Bulgarian representative.
"Qarabag" eliminated the Bulgarian team in the 2024/2025 season of the UEFA Champions League based on the results of two matches (1:2, 7:2) in the third qualifying round.
The teams have also played two friendly matches before. A draw was recorded in the meeting held in 2018 - 1:1. In the match held a year later, the Bulgarian representative was superior - 2:0.
The current Azerbaijani champion has met the Hungarian club 3 times.
The first two matches between the teams took place in 2022 in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. At that time, a draw was recorded in the match held in Baku - 1:1. However, "Qarabag" defeated its opponent 3:1 away and advanced to the play-offs based on the results of two matches.
In the friendly match between the teams in 2023, a score of 3:3 was recorded.
It should be noted that the play-off matches in the UEFA Champions League will take place on August 19-20 and 26-27. "Qarabag" will play the first match away.
