President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the Ganja city stadium on September 27.
AZERTAC reports that the head of state was informed about the stadium.
It was reported that the stadium, which covers an area of more than 10 hectares, has a seating capacity of 15,343 spectators. Auxiliary training grounds and a football academy building were built on the territory by AFFA. The stadium has changing rooms for football players, conference, medical, referee, technical staff rooms and other necessary areas. The arena, built in accordance with UEFA's 4th category standards, is equipped with modern lighting, sound, broadcasting, internet, and security systems.
It should be noted that President Ilham Aliyev signed an order regarding the construction of the stadium in October 2023. Its foundation was laid by the head of state last April. In August of this year, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva got acquainted with the progress of construction work at the stadium.
The development of this field in the regions of Azerbaijan, which is gradually strengthening its reputation as a sports country at the international level, is one of the priority directions of our state. Sports complexes built and reconstructed in the regions in recent years make a significant contribution to the mass sports in the regions and play an important role in the healthy growth of the young generation. At the same time, Azerbaijan regularly hosts prestigious continental and global sports competitions, demonstrating its high organizational skills. The commissioning of such modern sports arenas will create comprehensive conditions for holding local and international competitions at a high level in Ganja, as in other regions of our country.
