The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has announced that reaching the World Cup final is the national team's official goal.
Idman.Biz reports that this was announced on The Touchline X's social media account.
In the qualifying round, the Portuguese team, coached by Roberto Martinez, took first place in Group F with 13 points in six matches and qualified for the 2026 World Cup. The team's opponents in this stage were Hungary, Ireland and Armenia.
This is Portugal's seventh consecutive appearance at the World Championships. The upcoming 2026 tournament will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
It was previously reported that the Portuguese national team is considering inviting Jose Mourinho to the position of head coach of the national team after the 2026 World Cup.
