Former Paris Saint-Germain coach Mauricio Pochettino said he was able to build a team consisting of the star trio of Kilian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi without compromising the overall mood of the club.
Idman.Biz reports that Pochettino noted that he missed the opportunity to build a solid team structure by relying on these three key players.
"If you want to play with these three forwards, you have to think about a system that will support them and allow them to maximize their strengths and find their best positions.
The problem was that we had to combine these three players, who potentially needed a different base within a fragile structure. Therefore, our idea was to strengthen the defense structure so that all three could fully focus on their creative football," Pochettino told L'Équipe.
Mauricio Pochettino served as the head coach of PSG from January 2021 to July 2022. Pochettino is currently the head coach of the US national team. The Argentine coach's contract is until July 31, 2026.
