Pierluigi Collina, Chairman of the FIFA Referees Committee, responded to criticism of the VAR system.
Idman.Biz reports that the VAR system was first tested in the Netherlands Eredivisie in test mode in the 2011/12 season.
"Some may think that the advent of VAR will eliminate errors. That was never the goal. Football is a sport based on 'factual' decisions and decisions related to the interpretation of the event. No matter how much we improve its use, the human factor, and with it the possibility of error, will always remain.
For those who miss football without technology, I advise them to watch a few matches where VAR is not used - for example, the early stages of the FA Cup - I am sure they will change their minds," Collina said in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.
