Pedro Mateus: About Azerbaijani football, Portuguese footballers and "Qarabağ"

– Do you have information about Azerbaijani football?

Frankly, I don't have much information. I am currently trying to learn about your country's culture and cuisine. I don't have in-depth information. I have only been to Baku and Yevlakh in Azerbaijan. So far, I haven't seen anything surprising in culture or cuisine. But compared to my own country, I naturally prefer Portuguese food more. Because I grew up there.

– There are quite a few Portuguese footballers in our Premier League. Did you exchange ideas with them before coming to Azerbaijan?

I have contact with some of them. We still talk today. Some of them have played against me. We talk constantly. They gave me some information about Azerbaijani football. I am aware of your clubs' performances in European cups. They said good things about your football.

– You probably know "Qarabağ" better. Because this team defeated the Portuguese club "Braga"...

I have known "Qarabağ" for 10 years. I have a lot of information about them. They are a good team. They have achieved serious results in Europe.

– What are your goals in "Karvan Yevlakh"?

I want to go as far as possible. I intend to play in stronger leagues. The team has just been promoted to the Premier League. We need to look at it step by step. Time will tell how it will turn out.

– The team will be based in Yevlakh. Isn't it difficult for you to live there?

Frankly, I don't have much opportunity to see Yevlakh. I don't know what kind of place it is yet. I don't think it will be boring.
