Donetsk Shakhtar midfielder Pedrinho is close to obtaining a Ukrainian passport. This was reported by ESPN, according to Sport24.az.
According to the source, representatives of the coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team, led by Serhiy Rebrov, have already contacted the 27-year-old midfielder and discussed his prospects of playing for the national team.
Pedrinho's call-up for the match against Iceland on March 26, as part of the World Cup qualifying play-offs, is being considered. It should be noted that talks about granting citizenship to the Brazilian footballer have been going on since the beginning of 2022.
It should be noted that Shakhtar transferred the midfielder from Benfica in the summer of 2021 for 18 million euros. He played on loan for Atletico Mineiro from 2022 to 2024.
