Cole Palmer, Chelsea's young star, has sparked debate after failing to perform as expected this season.
İdman.Biz reports, citing the "Stick to Football" podcast, that prominent expert Paul Merson believes Palmer is seriously missing Nicolas Jackson, who was loaned to Bayern in the summer.
Merson stated that striker Nicolas Jackson's runs created empty spaces on the field for Palmer:
"Palmer misses Jackson. They complemented each other. Although people criticized Jackson for missing goal chances, he was always making forward runs. Now, when Palmer gets the ball at his feet, he doesn't see a player moving in front of him. Joao Pedro comes towards the ball, which limits Palmer's creativity."
On the other hand, professional lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling revealed an interesting conversation Palmer had with Noni Madueke after the game against Arsenal. Allegedly, Madueke urged Palmer to play more and be more confident in order to make the England squad for the World Cup to be held in the summer.
Chelsea's head coach Liam Rosenior emphasized that they are carefully managing the minutes of the 23-year-old footballer, who has recently returned from injury, and are thinking about the future of his career.
