Especially in the winter months, the condition of football fields in the country's stadiums becomes one of the most discussed issues. How the grass cover is protected in snow, frost or heavy rain is considered one of the interesting topics.
Idman.Biz spoke to Orkhan Yunisov, an employee of "Caspian Sport and Landscape" company, responsible for the field of Gabala city stadium, about the topic.
According to him, the quality of the lawn in the stadium is protected by two main factors - high-quality drainage and heating system:
"The condition of the field remains at a high level in any weather conditions. The main reason for this is a high-quality drainage and heating system. In simple terms, in winter, the lawn turns into a warm floor. We adjust the temperature according to the weather conditions: we increase it during frost and snow, and decrease it when the weather normalizes. This system is installed throughout the field and guarantees the quality of the cover".
Yunisov said that the main factor in winter is the night temperature:
"In frosty weather, the heating system should not be turned off. The heat must be kept constant to protect the grass cover. In summer, the working principle is different - the lawn must be mowed and watered in time so that the grass does not burn and the area does not fail".
He added that the height of the grass is maintained between 22-30 millimeters throughout the year. The exact indicator is determined by the team's head coach - he decides in what conditions the football players will train and play.
