Idman.Biz reports, citing The Athletic, that the English club is seriously considering a possible January transfer of the Senegalese player.
The Magpies have not yet contacted Monaco regarding this matter. According to reports, strengthening the midfield is one of the Premier League team's transfer priorities this winter.
Newcastle United are considering Kees Smit (AZ Alkmaar), Javi Guerra (Valencia) and Bilal El Khannouss (Leicester City) as alternatives to Lamin.
Newcastle are currently 13th in the Premier League table with 18 points.
