Newcastle found it difficult to break through Qarabag's defense when the score was 2:0 in the game against Qarabag.
According to Report, Newcastle coach Eddie Howe said this at a press conference after the first leg of the UEFA Champions League play-off stage against Qarabag.
The specialist commented on the match they won:
"Reaching the 1/8 finals is a historic achievement for us. I wouldn't say we played an ideal game tonight. Apparently, our main difficulty arose after we made the score 2:0 at the beginning of the match. We couldn't show the necessary desire and aggression to score more goals. In the second half, the game was more open, both teams attacked frequently. After the score became 2:0, we had difficulty breaking through the opponent's defense."
He stated that they gained great experience in the continent's most prestigious club tournament:
"The Champions League is a great experience for us. We will put everything on the line and try to do our best."
It should be noted that the Newcastle - Qarabag match ended with a 3:2 victory for the home team. The English representative also won the first match between the parties (6:1).
