The first footballer to leave "Neftçi" at the end of the season has been determined. Sport24.az received information about this from a source close to the Baku representative.
"The Whites" do not intend to continue with Romanian player Cristian Costin. The flank defender has only been on the field in five matches (287 minutes) this season.
The 27-year-old footballer also failed to gain the trust of Yuri Vernidub. The Ukrainian specialist gave Costin a chance in the starting lineup in two matches when he was appointed head coach. He played 82 minutes in the match against "Sumgayit" (2:2) on December 15 and 46 minutes in the match against "Karvan-Yevlakh" (2:1) five days later. Vernidub only placed Cristini on the substitutes' bench after these games.
The footballer signed a "1+1" contract with "Neftçi" in July 2025. This means that the clause in his contract will not be activated.
