The upholding of the AFFA Disciplinary Committee's decision is a major blow to the career of "Neftçi" player Igor Ribeiro. This was stated to "Report" by Rustam Afsarli, the media coordinator of the "white-blacks".
The club official said they were dissatisfied with the decision:
"We are very dissatisfied with the decision. Of course, we hoped that the penalty imposed by the Disciplinary Committee would be reduced. But it didn't happen. The three-match ban remained in effect. It's a big loss for us. It's also a big blow to the player's career. He will not be able to appear on the field for more than a month. We also suffered from the wrong decisions of the referees in the last games. We hope and believe that we will witness fair decisions in the following rounds."
It should be noted that "Neftçi" player Igor Ribeiro received a direct red card in the third round match of the Misli Premier League, which they lost to "Turan Tovuz", for aggressive behavior (hitting an opponent). By the decision of the AFFA Disciplinary Committee, he was sentenced to a 3-match ban, and the "white-blacks" were fined 3,000 manats. Although the club appealed to the AFFA Appeal Arbitration Tribunal regarding the matter, the decision remained in force.
