"Neftchi's" series has been broken after 33 seasons. Sport24.az reports with reference to the official website of the Professional Football League that the "white-blacks" will not participate in the 1/4 final stage of the Azerbaijan Cup for the first time in their history.
The eternal series of the capital's representative, who was among the top eight in the previous 33 seasons of the tournament held since 1992, has come to an end.
This happened in the 1/8 final stage of the current season. The Baku club lost to "Zira" in extra time of the match - 0:1. Until the match at the Zira Sports Complex stadium, "Neftchi" was the only team in the cup that participated in all seasons and was always in the 1/4 finals.
It should be noted that "Qarabag", which is 2nd in terms of participation in the "top eight", participated in this stage 26 times, and "Shamakhi", which is 3rd, participated 19 times.
