"Neftchi" has immortalized the number 9 jersey of its legendary footballer, Anatoli Banishevski.
According to information provided to "Report" from the club, starting from the 2026/2027 season, the team's number 9 jersey will be retired in memory of Banishevski.
The decision was made as a sign of respect for the memory of the unforgettable striker, whose 80th birthday would have been celebrated on February 23rd.
It was stated that Anatoli Banishevski wore the number 9 jersey of "Neftchi" with honor and loyalty for 16 years, scoring numerous winning goals under this number and raising the club's name to great heights.
It was noted that this step is an expression of respect for the glorious past of "Neftchi," which has made significant contributions to Azerbaijani football during its 89-year history, and to all the footballers who have worn the club's jersey.
