"Neftchi" scored its 150th penalty in Azerbaijani championships. Sport24.az reports with reference to the official website of the Professional Football League that this coincided with the away match against "Gabala" (3:1) of the XXIV round of the Misli Premier League.
Emin Mahmudov scored the team's second goal from an 11-meter penalty kick.
The "white-blacks", a permanent participant in the country's championships since 1992, have converted 120 of the 150 penalties they scored in 34 seasons. The accuracy rate of the capital's representative is 80%.
"Neftchi" is second only to "Qarabagh" in the number of penalties scored in the history of the tournament. Both teams have been permanent participants in the Premier League (formerly the top division) since 1992.
It should be noted that "Neftchi" scored its first penalty on May 8, 1992 in a match against "Khazar" of Sumgayit. Yunis Huseynov scored the goal that gave his team a 1:0 victory.
