"I follow my former team and the entire Azerbaijani championship." These words were said to Sport24.az by Ivan Brkic, the former goalkeeper of "Neftchi".
The Croatian goalkeeper spoke about the current situation of the "white-blacks":
"I see that many clubs playing in the Azerbaijani championship are developing and playing better. But "Neftchi" still cannot return to the required level. The scouting department really needs to do a better job. Abubakar alone is not enough as the last transfer that should change the situation. Despite all the criticism, Emin Mahmudov is again the best player in the team."
He also touched upon the resignation of head coach Samir Abasov:
"When the team doesn't perform well, the head coach is replaced. This is inevitable in football. But whether this will be enough for "Neftchi" to move forward, to be honest, I don't know. Many coaches and players have already been changed and things are still not right."
