The Paraguayan national team secured their spot in the 2026 World Cup after a draw with Ecuador (0:0).
İdman.biz reports that this result allows the team to return to the planet's main football tournament for the first time since 2010.
In honor of this historic achievement, the country's president, Santiago Peña, declared September 5th an official day off. "For the past 16 years, we haven't heard our anthem at the World Cup. Today, the "Albiroja" is back. This is the fulfillment of the dream of all Paraguayans, and therefore a day off has been declared so that we can all celebrate together!", the head of state wrote on the X social network.
The 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico from June 11th to July 19th.
