The Azerbaijani national team, consisting of female football players under 17, lagged behind its rivals physically in the qualifying round of the European Championship.
This was stated by the head coach of the mentioned team, Nargiz Gurbanova, in an interview with "Report".
She spoke about the games played by the national team:
"We were in the most difficult group of League B. We analyzed the opponents, especially I can mention Belgium. They have enough players with high football skills. They have been fighting in League A for many years. They only played in League B last season. As I mentioned before, some of our players born in 2009 were injured. Instead, we invited players born in 2011 to the team. Participation in the European Championship was the first experience for these players. Therefore, in all three games, both inexperience and excitement were felt. At the same time, considering the age factor, we were also physically behind the players of the opposing teams."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team lost to Belgium (0:11), Slovenia (0:3) and the Faroe Islands (1:6) in the 3rd group of League B.
