"Napoli" president Aurelio De Laurentiis spoke about the details of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's transfer to PSG in January 2025. Sport24.az reports that he made a statement to "RMC Sport" regarding this:
"I had to sell Kvaratskhelia. Because his agent threatened to invoke a rule that gives the player the right to unilaterally terminate the contract with the club after compensation is paid.
After the Georgian's first fantastic season at "Napoli", we immediately started working on extending his contract, offering a very significant salary increase. It was obvious that his very low salary would attract half of Europe, promising him mountains of gold.
But that wasn't enough. His agent, Mamuka Jugeli, had other plans for himself and the player. He agreed with another club for a large commission for himself and a salary for Khvicha that was twice as much as we offered."
Note that Kvaratskhelia's contract with PSG runs until the summer of 2029.
