According to the source, the fan reacted emotionally to the referee's decisions in his team's game against Atalanta (1-2), insulting him. The 40-year-old fan's wife mistakenly took these insults as being directed at her and stabbed her husband.
According to the police report, the incident occurred after the referee did not award a penalty in favor of "Napoli" after watching the video replay.
The fan was taken to the Ospedale del Mare hospital in Naples, and his wife has been charged with several counts.
