Julian Nagelsmann, the head coach of the German national team, commented on the results of the 2026 World Cup draw.
Idman.Biz reports that Germany will play in Group E at the championship. Their opponents will be Ecuador, Ivory Coast and Curaçao.
"The group is not easy, but it is possible to reach the next stage. We want to win the group stage matches. The most important thing is to move forward step by step, successfully complete all the games and advance to the play-off stage. Every opponent deserves respect. But it's perfectly normal to think about who we might face in the next rounds and who we have to beat there.
It will be interesting to analyze Curaçao. But we will not make the mistake of underrating them. Ivory Coast is a team that can be defeated, but we should not underestimate them. Ecuador will not be easy. They have real stars in their squad; they took second place after Argentina in the qualifying stage," Nagelsmann told AP News.
The World Championship will be organized by three countries: USA, Canada and Mexico. For the first time in the history of the tournament, 48 national teams will participate. The championship will be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
