A shocking murder occurred in the Strogino district of Moscow, the capital of Russia. Daniil Sekach, a 20-year-old central defender of the "Ural-2" club (Second Division B), is accused of killing 48-year-old Ekaterina Chuchupalo on the instructions of phone scammers.
İdman.Biz reports that, according to the investigation, the scammers deceived both the football player and the 16-year-old daughter of the murdered woman. Individuals presenting themselves as "law enforcement officers" convinced the young athlete to participate in an "operational measure" to avoid criminal liability. At the same time, they also called the victim's daughter and instructed her to open the door for the "employee" who would come to the house.
Sekach, who entered the house with tools, began to break into the safe. At this time, the mother who returned home tried to stop him. The football player demanded the safe code from the woman, then brutally beat her and killed her with two stab wounds. After taking more than 2 thousand US dollars (3400 AZN) and other valuables from the safe, the criminal threw the loot out of the window at the direction of the scammers.
According to reports, Daniil Sekach is a graduate of the "Lokomotiv" academy and has been playing for the "Ural-2" team since January 2025. The club described Daniil as "a calm and kind person."
Sekach, who has already been detained, confessed to the crime and stated that he was remorseful. He has been charged with intentional murder.
