A monument to Franz Beckenbauer, the legendary defender of the Munich club and the German national team, has been erected in front of the "Arena Munich", the home stadium of "Bavaria".
Idman.biz reports that the president of the "reds" Herbert Hainer spoke about the importance of the new monument.
"This monument is part of Bavaria's bronze-cast DNA. It symbolizes Beckenbauer and everything he embodies: style, character, Bavaria. Munich here is not just a monument, but a reflection of the city itself: proud, self-confident, elegant and modest."
Beckenbauer won the World and European Championships as part of the national team. With Bavaria, the defender won 13 trophies, including three European Champions Cups.
