MLS clubs have spent approximately $336 million on transfers in 2025.
İdman.biz reports that the major American soccer league has set a new record this year in terms of the amount spent by clubs on transfers.
During the calendar year of 2024, MLS clubs spent a total of $188 million. Thus, in 2025, this figure increased by 78%.
It is noted that $336 million for last year would have been the 8th highest figure among all world leagues.
The final results for this year worldwide will be announced later, as transfer windows in most European countries will remain open until September 1, and in Mexico's Liga MX until September 11.
Currently (the MLS transfer window closed last week), the total spending of MLS clubs for 2025 almost doubles the current total figure of Mexican league clubs.
The most expensive transfer of this offseason and in the history of the league overall was the transfer of midfielder Son Heung-min from Tottenham to Los Angeles for $26 million.
It is noted that the increase in spending is also related to the introduction of internal paid transfers. Previously, clubs could exchange players without using money.
