The Romanian Football Federation has officially announced the departure of head coach Mircea Lucescu from the national team.
Idman.Biz reports that the experienced specialist's second stint ended unexpectedly.
The main reason for the 80-year-old coach's departure was Romania's failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup after losing 0:1 to Turkey in the play-off stage. However, results are not the only reason for the separation.
According to reports, Lucescu's condition suddenly worsened before training on March 29. The well-known coach lost consciousness and was urgently hospitalized. Both the age factor and the health problems experienced led to the termination of his activities.
