Mircea Lucescu, the head coach of the Romanian national football team, is the oldest coach of national teams.
Idman.biz reports that on September 5, his team lost 0:3 in a friendly match against the Canadian national team.
During the game, Lucescu was 80 years, one month, and seven days old. Thus, the Romanian specialist broke the age record among national team coaches held by Roque Máspoli, who led the Uruguayan national team in 1997. In the match between Ecuador and Uruguay, Máspoli was 80 years, one month, and four days old.
It should be reminded that the Romanian national team will play its next match on September 9 against the Cypriot national team.
