The head coach of the Romanian national team, Mircea Lucescu, has set a new record.
Idman.Biz reports this with reference to "Transfermarkt".
The specialist made history by fielding his team at the age of 80 years and 7 months in the play-off match against Turkey (0:1) in the qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup.
With this, he surpassed the record of former coach of the Cook Islands national team, Alan Taylor (80 years 6 months).
Note that Lucescu began his coaching career in 1979.
