Today, the famous Romanian football coach Mircea Lucescu turns 80 years old.
İdman.biz reports that he spent most of his career as a football player at Bucharest "Dinamo" and scored 9 goals in 70 games for the Romanian national team from 1966 to 1979.
Lucescu, who coached the Romanian national team from 1981 to 1986, has been the head coach of this team again since 2024.
But as a coach, he worked longer - 12 years at Donetsk "Shakhtar", with which he became the champion of Ukraine many times and won the UEFA Cup in 2009.
Lucescu's football life was also connected with Turkey. He became the Super League champion with both "Galatasaray" (2002) and "Beşiktaş" (2003), and coached the Turkish national team in 2017-2019. He also won the UEFA Super Cup with "Sarı-kırmızılılar" in 2000.
