One of the main goals of the UEFA Elite Training Project is to increase the number of football centers in the regions.
Mirbaghir Isayev, the newly appointed head of the UEFA Elite Training Project, said this in his statement to "Report".
The experienced expert talked about his plans:
"I have worked in the UEFA Elite Training Project before, this is not a new area for me. When I spoke with the management and general secretaries before, I mentioned about this project that priority should be given to the regions first. Of course, all the children in the clubs are interesting to us. But today, there are more children in the regions, especially in places where there are no clubs, and the main focus should be there. I don't believe that there are no talented children in the regions. It is only necessary to identify those children, create conditions and prevent loss. We should not allow talented children to leave football at the age of 15."
M. Isayev also emphasized the importance of concrete steps in this direction:
"For this, the number of football centers in the regions should be increased. In Ganja, Mingachevir, Agsu, Sumgayit, Qakh, Zaqatala and other places. We will not invite football players playing in clubs to elite training. We want to attract talented children who participate in paid training sessions outside. Yesterday we had a meeting with coaches at AFFA. There, our first thought was to create a national team from a lower age group from children gathered from the regions. In other words, let's choose the future national team from the regions and form it."
It should be noted that Mirbaghir Isayev played 10 games and scored 1 goal in the Azerbaijani national team in 1994-1999.
