Azerbaijani national team defender Milana Rahimova chose Lyuboten (North Macedonia) club because she thought it was a way to Europe.
The defender herself stated this in an interview with "Report".
The 21-year-old back line player evaluated her choice:
"My goal and desire has always been to play in European teams. I had offers from countries such as Turkey, Cyprus, and Kazakhstan. Nevertheless, I made such a choice because I thought the North Macedonian team was a way to Europe."
She talked about the level of women's football in North Macedonia:
"Women's football is getting better here year by year. Despite being new, I see the interest of this country in football. There are age groups consisting of both women and men. You can see their love for football."
The defender also shared her thoughts on the national championship:
"The championship is better than in previous years. The number of legionnaires in teams is increasing year by year. There are national team members representing each country. This further raises the level of the championship."
The national team member also spoke about Lyuboten's goals:
"The team will play in the UEFA Champions League. We will play our first game on July 30. Our goal is to advance to the next stage."
It should be noted that Milana Rahimova was transferred to Lyuboten from the Turkish representative Ünyespor. She signed a 1-year contract with the North Macedonian team.
