Three-time Ballon d'Or winner and former Juventus footballer Michel Platini has strongly opposed the introduction of VAR.
Idman.Biz reports that the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) system was introduced in 2018 after a series of trials in international tournaments and has been widely implemented worldwide.
"If I were the FIFA president, there would be no VAR. The problems of football are other things. Football must be human. I would only use VAR to determine offsides. Everything else is interpretation. Therefore, we must allow the referees to interpret the match according to the laws of football," La Gazzetta dello Sport quoted Platini as saying.
