Mexico and South Africa will face off in the opening match of the WC-2026.
Idman.Biz reports that the opening match will be held on June 11 at the Estadio Azteca stadium in Mexico City, which has a capacity of more than 83,000 spectators. The national teams will face off in Group A.
Forty-eight teams will participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Europe will be represented by 16 teams. The hosts are the USA, Canada and Mexico. The competition will be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
The top two teams from each of the 12 groups, as well as the eight best third-placed teams, will qualify for the play-off stage. The World Cup final will be held at the MetLife Stadium near New York. Argentina is the current world champion.
