Lionel Messi, the forward of Inter Miami and the Argentina national team, has reached the same number of goals scored from free kicks as former Brazilian footballer Pele.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, on the night of March 2, the Argentinian footballer scored two goals in a regular season game against the Orlando team of the North American Major League Soccer (MLS). Messi repeated Pele's record by bringing the number of goals he scored from a standard position to 70.
Messi and Pele are second in football history for the most goals scored from free kicks. The leader is Brazilian Juninho Pernambucano, who scored 77 free-kick goals.
Messi is the owner of the Ballon d'Or award eight times. His football career began in 2003. In addition to Inter Miami, the Argentine has also played for Barcelona and PSG.
