İdman.Biz reports that Messi mentioned the names of the athletes he considers stars in his statement to NBC News.
"For us Argentinians, Maradona was our greatest idol and source of admiration. Even though I was still young and didn't see many of his games live, Diego crossed all boundaries.
Speaking of other sports, of course, the same thing happened with (Michael) Jordan. I also admire tennis players like (Roger) Federer, Rafael (Nadal) and (Novak) Djokovic. All three of them took the competition to a higher level. The long struggle and intense competition for the best title turned them into incredible athletes.
Probably many names don't come to mind now, but if I had to mention a few more, I would say basketball players Lebron (James) and Steph (Curry). I admire them a lot. I think they understand the game deeply and each of them has taken basketball to a new level in their own way," the Argentine emphasized.
